Mitchell’s Automatic Delivery service takes the guesswork out of heating oil and propane deliveries. By analyzing your past fuel usage and current weather conditions, our system estimates when you’ll need a refill and schedules it automatically. No checking your tank gauge, calling for delivery, or worrying about running out. Just reliable fuel when you need it.
And you can combine this worry-free fuel delivery schedule with our popular pricing and payment plans.
Heating oil and propane use is never uniform throughout the year. The bulk of your deliveries happens in the fall and winter, when homes need the most fuel to stay warm, and that’s exactly when household budgets tend to feel the tightest.
While Mitchell customers have the option to pay in full for each delivery, you can also enroll in one of our Budget Plans when you are on Automatic Delivery.
A Budget Plan combined with one of our price protection options can slash those winter expenses virtually in half. It spreads your total costs evenly across all 12 months. You’ll always know exactly how much you need to pay each month for your fuel.
We offer several price protection programs that shield you from spikes in the market.
With this option, you lock in your per-gallon rate for the year. That price stays the same no matter what happens in the market, so you know exactly what to expect with every delivery and don’t need to worry about price spikes in the winter. However, if the market price goes down once you have enrolled for the season, you will continue to pay the locked-in rate.
Please note, there is no fee for Fixed Price protection, but you need to be on our free Automatic Delivery schedule. This protection is available for both propane and heating oil.
Our Price Cap plan sets a ceiling on how high your price per gallon can rise without limiting how low it can go. It is available for heating oil customers.
Oil prices can climb because of world events and market dynamics, but history tells us that they can fall just as quickly. A Price Cap protects you no matter which way the market moves. If prices keep rising, you’re shielded because your rate is capped. If market prices drop, you get the lower rate on the day of your fuel delivery. It’s the best of both worlds: protection from the spikes, with a chance to benefit from the drops in the market. There is a small enrollment fee for Price Cap, which our suppliers charge to cover this “downward protection.”
We also offer a Prebuy program for both propane and heating oil. You can purchase your annual heating oil supply upfront at a discounted fixed price, locking in your rate for the season.
We will deliver your pre-purchased gallons as you need them. If you have any gallons remaining when your contract expires, you can use these funds for other Mitchell products and services.
Please note, New York customers can enroll in our Prebuy option at any time of the year. However, because of state laws, Connecticut customers interested in Prebuy must enroll between April 1 and October 31.
In recent years, our heating oil customers have really appreciated the downward protection of Price Cap and the fact that it promises added value when the market goes down. For propane customers, the certainty that comes from locking in your rate with Fixed Price is incredibly popular.
